Sunrisers Hyderabad won a thriller of a contest against Punjab Kings as the Pat Cummins-led side clinched the match by a narrow margin of two runs to register its third win in five games this season

The Rescue Act

The wrecker in chief for the orange army in a match that ebbed and flowed was Nitish Reddy as the right-hander played a match-winning knock to help his team post a fighting total on board after they had lost early wickets and were reduced to 64-4. That’s when Reddy who came to bat at number four took charge and started playing aggressively stitching crucial partnerships in the process.

The Chance

The batter got a lifeline while batting in the 40s when Shashank dropped a catch at the boundary which helped him notch up a quickfire half-century which proved to be a match-winning knock for SRH.

The Goal

Nitish Reddy was awarded the player of the match for his innings upon receiving which he said his main aim is to win matches for his team. “For me, it’s like a big contribution for my team and myself. I have been telling myself that I should believe in myself. Seamers were bowling really well, I didn’t want to take on them. I knew that the spinners would come and I wanted to attack them, I just did that,” said Nitish in a post-match interview. “I also used the dimensions. I just want to continue to perform for my team.”

The Result

Following the win over Punjab Kings SRH have now won three out of the five matches that the team has played so far this season and are just behind CSK in the points table
