With India set to tour Bangladesh for the white-ball series in September, the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday confirmed to Cricbuzz that the team’s tour of Ireland has been postponed, with both boards mutually deciding to push the tour forward after Cricket Ireland told the Bangladesh Cricket Board that they are unable to find a suitable slot for the tour to go ahead later this year.
What They Said
“When the India series was moved from last year to this September, we asked them (Cricket Ireland) if they could accommodate us at another time in 2026, but they said they were unable to do so. So the tour has been postponed,” a BCB official told Cricbuzz on Saturday (March 21).
“They also had some other issues, so we decided to work together to find a new window for the Ireland tour, hopefully sometime next year (2027),” he added.
The Schedule
Bangladesh were scheduled to tour Ireland in September, but the change in plan, including the board’s wish to host India, a tour which was originally scheduled to take place in September last year but was pushed back due to political tension between the two countries, is slated for later this year.
The Fixtures
India will arrive in Bangladesh for six white-ball games, three ODIs and as many T20Is on August 28, with the series starting on September 1, with the first ODI followed by the next two games on September 3 and 6, respectively. The ODI series will be succeeded by a three-match T20I series on September 9, 12 and 13.

The Implication
Bangladesh, which won the recently concluded ODI series against Pakistan by a margin of two matches to one, moved to number nine in the latest ODI rankings and will need to win most of the games to be in the top eight in order to earn direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup, the cutoff date for which is March 31, 2027.
The Opportunity
Bangladesh are scheduled to host India, Australia and New Zealand and will travel to South Africa and Zimbabwe before the above-mentioned qualification deadline.
