New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner praised India after the Men in Blue got over the line while chasing a score of 209 runs in the 2nd T20I in Raipur with 28 balls to spare. This was India’s joint-highest successful run chase in the history of T20I cricket.
2nd T20I: The Praise
Santner said after the match that even 300 runs wouldn’t be enough considering how strong and deep India’s batting lineup is. In the words of Santner, against these guys, 300 maybe. When you come up against a side like India, which bats deep on a good wicket. The way they came out with intent from ball one. It was for us; it was trying to squeeze it if we could. We probably have to go a bit harder as well, knowing 200-210s are not enough.”

2nd T20I: The Chase

2nd T20I: The Effort
As far as New Zealand’s effort with the bat is concerned, the team started well with both opponents getting off to a start before Indian bowlers pulled things back in the middle overs, and it took a quickfire inning of 47 runs off 27 balls from the captain to get the BlackCaps to a challenging total.

2nd T20I: The Role
Talking about his role in the tram while batting at number seven and the effect of dew as a bowler, Santner said, “My role at 7, you have to score runs. It has been nice, very good wicket and a fast outfield, I have to cash in because I have to bowl as well. It was there to hold the ball as a spinner. I guess we will just move on and see if there is dew at the next venue.”
