Ishan Kishan made a roaring comeback in international cricket with a blistering innings of 76 runs off 32 balls in the second T20I against New Zealand and helped his team chase a target of 209 runs while admitting that he asked himself can he do it again in the Player’s Corner.

Player’s Corner: The Inning

Ishan started his knock in an aggressive manner after coming in to bat after India had lost both its openers in the first few balls of the chase, and didn’t let the pressure come to the team.

The left-hander was helped by a 24-run over from Zak Foulkes and was able to build on the momentum that he gained after that.

Kishan was ably supported by Suryakumar Yadav, who stayed till the end to take India over the line with an attacking inning of 82 runs off 37 balls, which was his first half-century in T20I cricket after 14 months. The duo formed what eventually proved to bea match winning partnership of 122 runs for the third wicket

Player’s Corner: The Belief

Talking about his innings after the match, Kishan said that he had doubts in his mind regarding his performance, but is delighted to have successfully answered them.

In the words of Ishan, “I asked myself one question, can I do it again or not? And I had a very clear answer. I felt I could bat through the innings and play good shots. I just needed to get runs somewhere to answer my questions. Even if I got out, I just wanted to play good cricket, that was it.”

Player’s Corner: The Opportunity

“I was just looking to score runs. Sometimes it’s important to do it for yourself, to answer your own questions about how you’re batting and whether you’re capable of playing for India. That’s why it was important for me to play domestic cricket and get runs. The good part was that we won the trophy as well, and I carried that confidence here. So it was a pretty good day for me,” he said.
