IND vs NZ: Star All Rounder Doubtfull for T20I seriesImage Credit: X

New Zealand, the team that created history courtesy of their first-ever ODI series win in India by defeating a full-strength Indian team, might be without the man who led them to this famous win, Michael Bracewell, for the T20I series against the IND vs NZ T20I series.

IND vs NZ: The Injury

Bracewell picked up a calf injury during the third and final ODI against India, played in Indore and had to leave the field with Daryl Mitchell taking over the captaincy duties. As a result, the spin bowling all-rounder has been ruled out of the first three games of the upcoming T20I series.

The injury is a big blow to New Zealand, considering Bracewell was one of the vital players in the team in their lead-up to the T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to begin in February and has the experience of playing in India, which will come in quite handy

Along with his credentials with the all, Bracewell is more than capable of clearing the boundary and making decisive contributions while batting in the lower middle order, the evidence of which was on show during the ODI series decider.

Bracewell scored a quick-fire 28 runs off just 18 balls to take his team to an above-par total, which proved to be the difference at the end of the game

IND vs NZ: The Replacement

Fast bowler Kristian Clarke has been added to the squad as Bracewell’s replacement for the first three IND vs NZ T20I games, as stated by New Zealand Cricket “Northern Districts bowling all-rounder Kristian Clarke will remain with the BLACKCAPS in India after being added to the T20 squad for the first three matches of the upcoming five-game series, starting in Nagpur on Wednesday night.

Although Bracewell has travelled to Nagpur, the venue for the first T20I, with the team and is being monitored, as confirmed by New Zealand Cricket.

An official statement from the board read, “Meanwhile, Michael Bracewell has travelled with the squad to Nagpur after suffering a minor left-calf strain while fielding in Sunday’s final ODI in Indore. He will be treated and monitored over the coming days before a decision is made on his ongoing involvement in the tour.”

If we talk about Kristian Clarke, he had a decent outing in the three ODIs with seven wickets and scored crucial runs as well at the backend of the innings.

IND vs NZ: The Schedule

New Zealand are scheduled to play a five-match T20I series in India, which is being seen as ideal preparation for the T20 World Cup, and both teams will look to put their best foot forward in an attempt to win it and take the momentum into the multination tournament.

As far as the composition of India and New Zealand is concerned, it comprises names that can take the game away from the opposition in no time.

India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who is yet to lose a series as a captain and would wish to maintain the spotless record.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will be boosted by the return of regular names, including white-ball captain Mitchell Santner, who wasn’t a part of the ODI series.
