Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has made himself available for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy game against Saurashtra confirmed Ashok Sharma the Secretary of the DDCA. “Yes, Rishabh Pant is available, and he will be traveling with the team to Rajkot,” he told Hindustan Times. This will be Rishabh Pant’s first Ranji Trophy match since 2017 when Delhi faced Vidarbha in the final of that particular season.
The Availability
Among other Indian players captain Rohit Sharma was seen in the nets practicing with Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy Team ahead of their next match against Jammu& Kashmir, which is scheduled to begin on January 23 however his participation in the match is still not confirmed. On the other hand, Virat Kohli hasn’t communicated anything regarding his availability to the DDCA.
The Form
The former and current Indian captain had a below-average tour of Australia. Virat Kohli could score only one 50-plus score in the 10 innings in which he batted, while captain Rohit Sharma seemed like a walking wicket and was unable to score a single half-century in six innings of the three matches he played on the tour.
The Opportunity
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has made himself available for Mumbai’s next Ranji Trophy match scheduled to begin from January 23 an MCA source told Hindustan Times about the development. “Yashasvi Jaiswal has confirmed that he is available for the match against Jammu and Kashmir. The selection committee will be meeting by the end of this week to pick the squad,” an MCA source said.
The Decision
The move comes after the BCCI instructed the players who are not a part of the five-match T20I series against England to play in the next round of the Ranji Trophy following a below-par performance in the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy which India lost by a margin of 3-1. As far as the availability of other players who were a part of the India team during the tour of Australia is concerned middle order batter Sarfaraz Khan won’t be able to play in the match against Jammu& Kashmir owing to a rib injury an MCA source told Hindustan Times.
