IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: The Chase
India lost the wickets of both its openers, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma, in the first seven balls of the Chase as India were reduced to 6-2 with Ishan Kishan and captain Suryakumar Yadav at the crease.
The duo, however, didn’t let the pressure get to the team and kept on attacking with Kishan leading the charge.
The left-hander hit Zak Foulkes for 24 runs in his first over and got much-needed momentum, which he made full use of in the first six overs and ended up stroking 76 runs off 32 balls, including 11 fours and 4 sixes.
IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: The Support
Kishan was given good support from captain Suryakumar Yadav, who took over after Ishan got out and scored his first half-century in T20I cricket after 14 months, guiding the team home with an unbeaten score of 82 off just 37 balls, with 28 balls to spare.
IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: Captain’s Corner
Surya heaped praise on Ishan for his innings during the post-match presentation. Surya said, “I didn’t know what Ishan had in the afternoon for lunch or what pre-workout he had before the game, but I have never seen anyone bat (like that). “At 6 for 2, batting that way, ending the powerplay around 67, 70 (75 for 2), I think it was incredible.”
IND vs NZ 2nd T20I: The Ideology
Surya further added that the way Kishan played is exactly the way management wants the batters to approach the innings. In the words of Surya, “I think this is what we want from batters going out there, to express themselves, be happy in their own space, and that’s what he did today.”

When asked about his own performance, the Indian captain reiterated the same things that he has been saying for quite a while, which is that it was just a matter of time that the elusive score of fifty plus is achieved by the right-hander.
“As I said before also, I was batting really well in the nets, and everything which I did back home in the last 2 or 3 weeks [helped], I got a good break to spend time with my family, my friends,” Suryakumar said. “I think I had good practice sessions as well, and I think I’m enjoying what’s happening right now.”
